National Poetry Month and Substack Plans

It’s springtime. It’s National Poetry Month. We’re ready for what this next season will bring amidst these days of change and new beginnings. Let’s get started on what’s next here at Belle Point.

SPD News

After the SPD news last week, these are pretty dramatic days in the small press world. For those who haven’t heard, Small Press Distribution—a distributor for many small presses of all sizes—abruptly closed up and left their client publishers with little information about what to do next or how to access their books (or any funds owed to them). While Belle Point Press was not distributed by SPD, we care a great deal about how much this will affect our fellow publishers and encourage you to make a special effort to order direct from small presses in the coming weeks (and always, of course).

Substack Plans for April

This winter was packed with activity on all fronts, so we’re shifting our Substack in April to focus less on weekly newsletters and more on recalibrating our schedule of other content related to publishing and the book industry. We’ll still share Belle Point updates periodically to make sure you’re still aware of our new books and other events! Speaking of which…

• If you’re around central OK this week, come see Chase Dearinger! He’ll be reading at The Floating Bookshop on Wednesday, 4/3, and at UCO in Edmond on Thursday, 4/4—then catch him along with the rest of our authors at Scissortail on Friday in Ada at ECU.

  

• Todd Osborne’s poetry debut, Gatherer, is officially out next week! If you’re in Hattiesburg on April 13, go hear Todd read at The Author Shoppe at 7pm along with Adam Clay and C.T. Salazar. He’ll also be reading at the Delta Arts Alliance over in Columbus a few days earlier (April 9) with Ugochukwu Damian Okpara and C.T. See more about Todd’s events here.
