Read Small
Changes to our Substack Subscriptions
We’ve struggled to work out the best way to offer additional benefits to folks through this platform over the years. As a book publisher with royalties (not to mention all our income) linked exclusively to sales, it seems awkward to use this as an informal tip jar. That said, we know some folks want to do all they can to support small presses, and for that we are immensely grateful.
So moving forward, rather than trying to keep developing new additional content exclusive to Substack, we want to dig into promoting our authors and their terrific books as much as possible and motivate readers to show their love to our catalog. Here are a few ways we’ll be doing that:
Each month, we’ll have content focused on our new and recent titles that’s freely available to all (with or without a subscription). We’re also working on reviving our bookseller interview series.
Soon we’ll be adding a Backlist Book Club to our website that will include a monthly Substack feature + great discounts on past titles. We’ll have a more detailed announcement about that in the coming weeks; it will officially launch in October.
Free subscriptions also get a discount code for 25% off an order + other occasional deals and an email of each post sent directly to them. Think of it as a newsletter.
If you want to support our Substack with a paid subscription, you’ll get an exclusive discount for 50% off an order + periodic discounts not available anywhere else. Each month, we’ll also offer a free Prose Series microchap to every current paid subscriber—no additional purchase necessary. It’s sort of like having your own monthly Prose Series subscription. (Founding members can also subscribe for this benefit + get an extra free book of their choice.)
We think these options will streamline the process and encourage folks to actively support our small press. If you’re already a paid subscriber, please email us your mailing address at orders@bellepointpress.com so we can send along the first Prose Series of your choice (or we’ll surprise you).
Thanks, as always, for sticking around.
